Spencer and Julie Penrose opened their grand resort at the gateway to the Colorado Rocky Mountains in 1918.
Nearly one hundred years later, its still going strong. The Broadmoor has been awarded the Forbes Travel Guide (formerly Mobil Five-Star Award by Mobil Travel Guide) Five-Star Award for a record 50th consecutive year. Today The Broadmoor boasts three championship golf courses. The historic East Course was home of the 2008 US Senior Open and will host the 2011 US Women’s Open – and the traditional West Course were a collaboration of designs by Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones Sr. Both East and West offer scenic and challenging play for golfers of all handicaps. The Mountain Course, by Nicklaus Design, has an additional 18 challenging holes and exquisite panoramic views.
